Committeeperson Joan Bannan Harris
Ms. Bannan Harris as served on the Township Committee since 01/01/2019. She has been a resident of Bernards Township since 2001.
She has four children all of whom have attended Bernards Township Public Schools and are graduates
of Ridge High School.
Joan graduated from Seton Hall University with a BS in Economics. She is also a graduate of Seton Hall University School of
Law where she obtained her JD.
Ms. Bannan Harris’s community service has included: serving as a member of the Board of Health and citizen representative/chair of the Stigma Free Initiative for the Municipal Alliance Against Substance Abuse. She has also served as a volunteer for many school athletic and community organizations including the Ridge Rebound Club and Ridge Lacrosse Inc. Joan has also volunteered for the Ridge Unified Sports Program. Joan has been a volunteer speaker for programs regarding adolescent addiction at multiple community events and at Ridge High School and William Annin Middle School assemblies. In April 2018, she was certified by the National Council for Behavioral Health in Washington, DC as a Youth Mental Health Instructor and has trained over 100 educators, first responders, parents and other community members.
Joan is Counsel with the firm of Porzio Bromberg & Newman in Morristown, NJ
and a member of the New Jersey Bar. Most of her career has been spent in the courtroom as a civil
trial attorney, although she also has experience as an Assistant Prosecutor for Morris County and as
a manager for a national medical professional liability carrier managing high exposure claims.
