Sunflower Growing Tips
Sunflower Growing Contest Updates for September:
Summer is quickly winding down and so is the growing season for your giant sunflowers!
We hope you have had great success nurturing your flowers this summer, and that we will have a wonderful turnout of huge plants come September!
We know you have been working hard to grow the biggest flowers possible, and that your journals are shaping up nicely.
Just be sure to keep those squirrels away from your sunflower seeds!!!
How to submit your flower or journal for judging:
Bring your flower or journal to the Parks and Recreation Department, 1 Collyer Lane, on September 16th, 17th or 18th between 8:30am and 4:30pm
to be measured or dropped off. Flowers will be returned immediately after measurement. Journals will be kept for judging and may be picked up
the week of September 23rd.
Winners in each category will be notified via email on September 20th. Awards will be presented in each age category for the tallest flower,
widest sunflower head and best journal at the Township Committee meeting on September 24th at 8PM at the Bernards Township Library.
Award recipients only are asked to attend to receive their award.
We hope that this experience of growing giant sunflowers and beautifying Bernards Township has been an enriching one!
We look forward to seeing you during the third week of September. Best of luck with your entry!
