“Recent court decisions require local government to extend anti-harassment training to sponsored volunteer organizations starting in 2010, with retraining every two years.  As attendance must be documented, we will be asking that the secretary/contact person for each board/commission/committee schedule a training session and coordinate compliance by March 31, 2010.  To make it easier to comply with the court’s request, in early January you will be provided with access to a DVD entitled “The Rights and Duties Of A Volunteer In Local Government” and various documentation which can be used to accomplish this requirement during one of your meetings.”
