Bernards Township is pleased to offer residents a variety of activities, trips and events throughout the year for all ages: youth, adult and senior programming; sports instruction, leagues, cultural arts, workshops, and summer camps; seasonal events, outdoor concerts, movies and plays in the park; museum, theater and other bus trips; and pool and golf membership opportunities.

Current season activity, event and trip information can be found on our online registration website. A user name and password is not required to view information. To register for programs you must be an active household with a user name and password.

For residents ages 55 & older we have a monthly calendar of shopping and leisure trips available to Bernards Township residents. View current offerings on our Out & About Monthly Calendar. Programs and trips for ages 55+, available to both residents and non-residents, can be found on our online registration website.
July is Parks & Recreation Month and the summer is when we host some of our favorite events! Our award winning Plays in the Park program, outdoor concerts, movies under the stars and more. Information on our summer events is available in late spring. All events are FREE! Bring your own blanket or lawn chair for seating. Click on any of the links below for current information.

We offer discount tickets for seasonal amusements and attractions. Lift tickets for local ski areas are offered December – March. Amusement parks, water parks and other summer seasonal attraction tickets are offered May – October. Tickets are available to Bernards Township residents only and are purchased in advance at the Parks & Recreation office. Tickets are not refundable or exchangeable. There is no medical insurance coverage included in your registration for any program or membership offered by Bernards Township. By participating, you agree to assume responsibility for payment of any and all medical, doctor or hospital bills resulting from any illness or injury occurring during your participation.

Somerset County Therapeutic Recreation

The Department of Parks and Recreation has a cooperative agreement with the Somerset County Park Commission's Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Department to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for children and adults who have a developmental disability. By providing a variety of social, cultural, artistic, culinary, sports, fitness, community outings, horticulture, and special events throughout the year, individuals can recreate year round. Programs are adapted to meet the participants' needs. A summer camp for children who have a learning disability or Aspergers Syndrome is also available. The goal of the TR Department is to promote an active leisure lifestyle that improves social, physical, cognitive and emotional functioning and enhances participants' abilities. One of seven centers operated by the county Office on Aging and Disability Services, offers a variety of educational, recreational and entertaining activities for seniors, including wellness programs and health screenings.

Senior RideWise keeps seniors 65 and older, and individuals with disabilities connected to friends, family and the community. For an annual membership and discounted cost per mile fee, members can schedule rides with screened, professional drivers who will provide door-to-door transportation. Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable ride for individuals who don't drive or who choose not to drive.
