Somerset County Park Commission TR Department

The Department of Parks and Recreation has a cooperative agreement with the Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Department to provide recreation and leisure opportunities for children and adults who have a developmental disability. By providing a variety of social, cultural, artistic, culinary, sports, fitness, community outings, horticulture, and special events throughout the year, individuals can recreate year round. Programs are adapted to meet the participants’ needs. A summer camp for children who have a learning disability or Aspergers Syndrome is also available. The goal of the TR Department is to promote an active leisure lifestyle that improves social, physical, cognitive and emotional functioning and enhances participants’ abilities.
