Community Service
The Community Service Department's mission is to supervise and conduct labor projects
by utilizing free court appointed individuals saving Bernards Township residents' tax dollars,
thus improving the quality of life within our town. Individuals perform various projects
including furniture donation pick ups, litter/ graffiti removal and assisting non for profit
community groups by providing free labor.
Furniture Removal Program
- The department accepts furniture donations that are distributed
to the poor throughout New Jersey. Furniture pick ups are conducted
on Wednesdays 6 - 9 PM
and Saturdays 8 - 12 PM. If you would
like to drop off furniture/appliances you must call first. No
items are to be dropped off without the approval of the Community
Service Manager. Items must be in working order. Items that are
damaged, torn, stained or otherwise in unusable condition can
not be accepted.
- Items accepted include the following: refrigerators, counter top
microwave ovens and appliances, dishware, cutlery, washers, dryers,
cable ready televisions, stereos, lamps, bedroom sets, dining set, sofas,
kitchen tables, chairs, baby cribs, basinets, yard tools, and carpentry tools.
- Items NOT accepted include the following: stoves, dishwashers, cabinet mounted
microwave ovens, floor model televisions, mattresses, toys, child car seats, lawn
furniture, decorations, food and clothing.
Clean Up Program
- Residents are encouraged to contact this department when a littering
condition exists within the town. It will be addressed in the order
that it is received.
