Bernards Township 250th Anniversary Task Force
Mission
In 2010, Bernards Township will celebrate the 250th Anniversary of its Charter.
In anticipation of this special occasion, the Township Committee has appointed an 13-member
250th Anniversary Task Force. The group’s mission, as stated in the committee’s resolution,
is to encourage residents to participate in the anniversary by combining pre-existing events
with new celebrations to create a year-long series of events throughout 2010.(See 250th Calendar Below)
The task force is interested in your suggestions, and outreach meeting will be announced within the
coming weeks.
Writers Wanted:
250th Anniversary Essay Contest – by April 1, 2010
The Bernards Township 250th Anniversary Task Force is launching an essay contest in order to celebrate
our town's rich history. We are hoping to promote deeper community involvement in the celebration and
to provide community members an opportunity to express their appreciation of, and love for, their
community. Essay entries will be organized by age and topic, from Kindergarten to Adult.
Winners (under age 18) in each category will receive a U.S. Savings Bond, and will read their essay
at "Memories of Bernards," an anniversary event planned for October 15-16.
In addition, all winning entries will be included in the 250 Anniversary Time Capsule. We want to thank
Skylands Community Bank for their very generous sponsorship of the U.S. Savings Bond awards.

or hand-delivered to Town Hall by April 1, 2010. All submitted essays must be accompanied by a completed application form.
